The Hotel Exorcist – A Tabletop RPG Event

Saturday, October 4, 2025
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM

East Side Mags (map)

Ahoy!

It's your old buddy Hambone here, and I am stoked to be back running a tabletop RPG adventure at East Side Mags.

This time it will be The Hotel Exorcist, for 321RPG.

As the co-writer, I can assure you that you will experience terror like no other when you step into the Willow Brook Hotel.

The game will run for approximately three hours, and all materials will be provided. This adventure features adult horror themes and is not recommended for kids under the age of 13.

Here is the synopsis:

CHECK IN. CAST OUT. CLEAN UP.

The world is full of haunted places, none more restless than a hotel. Rooms filled with lives cut short, tragic love affairs, and things that go bump in the minibar. But who cleans up after the guests who refuse to check out?

Enter the Vagabond Fox, an elite team of exorcists, demonologists, and ghost hunters. Their mission: track, weaken, and banish supernatural entities before they claim new victims.

Tonight, something sinister is stirring at The Willow Brook Hotel. The hauntings are escalating, and the dead aren’t just lingering; they’re gathering.

So kick off the Halloween season right on October 4th at East Side Mags and check in to The Hotel Exorcist!

Zombie Walk 2025

Saturday, October 18, 2025
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

East Side Mags (map)

East Side Mags in association with Indie Arts Montclair are proud to bring back our annual ZOMBIE WALK 2025!

Every year this event gets bigger so we’ve brought in some heavy hitter make up artists so we can make sure everyone is taken care of as efficiently as possible. Make-up will be $5 per person (all ages) and consists of basic zombie make up including face paint and some “blood” (no prosthetics or latex).

HERE is where you can purchase your make-up session:

  • Please schedule your make-up time based on the available time slots.
  • Each reservation is for ONE appointment. If you are a “party of 3” you will have to make 3 separate appointments and purchase each appointment separately.
  • Please keep in mind that we are starting the walk at 5:30pm SHARP so all appointments are timed accordingly.
  • Please do your best to keep your appointment. We know things “pop up” and will do our best to accommodate everyone but we can’t guarantee make-up if you miss your appointment time.
  • EVERYONE needs an appointment to get make-up - kids, adults, grandma, your auntie - everyone. If all spots fill up, we will do our best to see about expanding the offering, adding make-up artists, etc.
  • Please be patient with us. While we’ve run this event since 2017, the scheduling system is still pretty new to us and we’re trying to get the hang of it.
  • Any questions, please contactjeff@eastsidemags.com as soon as possible

The actual walk will start at 5:30pm SHARP and we’ll creep, meander and claw our way around Montclair Center - horrifying businesses and patrons alike - in a zombie-like but non-aggressive manner.  We’re zombies but we’re also respectful of others so please don’t be a dick.

Our amazing friends at Indie Arts Montclairwill have some super-scary merch available! All proceeds from merch sales go to support IAM. Details coming soon.

We’ve also got the return of MR HAUNT who will be judging a costume contest so if you’ve got your Halloween costume ready, come dressed to scare and we’ll “zombify” your costume and you could win some fabulous prizes!

**UPDATE (9/26/2025): We're STOKED to announce that Montclair's own NOTORIOUS BBQ will be here with "zombowls" aka small bowls topped with slaw and their signature BBQ sauce with your choice of brisket, pulled pork or portabello mushroom as a base! Support local business! Support your friends! This food is seriously AMAZING!

More information and fun will be added as we get closer. Follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram for updates!

Stay tuned…

Trinity: Vampire Volume 1 Signing with Casey Cruz

Saturday, October 25, 2025
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM

East Side Mags (map)

Casey Cruz is not undead. In fact, Casey is going to LIVE and IN-PERSON right here on October 25th - just in time for the spookiest holiday of the year!

Join us in welcoming Casey as she brings copies of her graphic novel - Trinity: Vampire - to East Side Mags!

About Casey: Casey Cruz is a comic illustrator, writer, and art instructor with a BFA in Drawing, Printmaking, and Painting. Casey has been involved in various projects including book and comic covers, film posters, and album art all containing combined elements of fine art, illustration, and graphic design.

Casey has had some major accomplishments in her short career. In 2017, she won a gold medal in the SkillsUSA National T-Shirt Design Competition. In 2020, her work was selected for the competitive Student Poster Competition at the SIGGRAPH International Conference. She also curated her first fine art exhibition in 2022 titled Now They See Us. This exhibition featured student works with a variety of mediums, emphasizing the importance of artistic diversity. During her senior year of college, Casey debuted the prologue of her graphic novel series Trinity: Vampire as her thesis project and then continued writing and illustrating subsequent chapters. To conclude her collegiate endeavors, Casey received the William Paterson University Award for Creative Excellence in Digital Art and Design in 2023.

Immediately after her graduation, artwork from Trinity: Vampire was featured at the Passaic County Arts Center in a solo exhibition in 2023. Trinity: Vampire began a release schedule on Webtoon in 2023 and the graphic novel of Trinity: Vampire Volume 1 was recently published in 2025.

Currently residing in Morris County, New Jersey, Casey continues to create Trinity: Vampire with Volume 2 well under production. She also creates freelance graphics and illustrations and actively remains involved in her local artist network by showcasing her work in local galleries, conventions, and art fairs.

Don’t miss this triple threat talent - artist, writer, art instructor - is there anything Casey can’t do? We doubt it but you’ll have to find out for yourself on 10/25!

See you soon!

Clamshell Carnage Signing

Saturday, November 1, 2025
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM

East Side Mags (map)

Are you ready for Clamshell Carnage?

Clamshell Carnage is an independently produced zine dedicated to the wild world of VHS collecting and cult films.

It isn't a celebration of the same horror tapes that have been covered a thousand times - it's a discovery of the unknown, both horror and not, and the curation of classics destined to be saved from obscurity.

This 24 page (1/4 page size) black & white zine contains deep dives into rarely discussed cult and import labels, an in-depth interview with the owner of the largest video store in Florida, playful and spooky fictional movie titles, a review on a made-for-tv classic Gargoyles and so much more!

Come by on November 1st between 3pm and 6pm to check it out, grab a copy - signed by Brett Gubitosi the creator - and see what this love letter to the VHS community has to offer!
