Mark Gruenwald is a legend. Pure and simple.
He wrote Captain America for 10 years and gave us characters that were/are used in the current MCU like Crossbones and U.S. Agent. He wrote Squadron Supreme, came up with the idea for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe and gave us Marvel’s first limited series Marvel Super Hero Contest of Champions.
Mark passed away in 1996 but left us with a legacy of Marvel characters and stories that will last 1000 lifetimes. In his Last Will & Testament, Mark asked Marvel to mix some of his ashes into ink used to print a poster for the Marvel Universe. Then the ink was used for the first printing of his graphic novel, Squadron Supreme.
Now, his widow, Catherine Schuller-Gruenwald, will be joining us on November 12 with a limited number of copies of Contest of Champions featuring an Ashograph including a letter of authenticity from Catherine herself, signed on-site right here at East Side Mags.
Each copy of this limited edition run (only 100 copies total) will be $200 plus tax. You can contact us in advance to put a deposit down ($100) with the balance due upon pickup or you can outright buy your copy on November 12th between 1pm and 5pm. As an added incentive to pre-order the book, Cat is offering 2 free tickets to CosMODA in February during New York Fashion Week. CosMODA is her new cosplay show and tickets sell out every fashion week season!
