Womens Empowerment Signing

UPDATE (3/26/17):  Rev up those cutie-marks, Diana Leto is rounding out our Womens Empowerment Signing event!

You may recognize Diana Leto's name from her cover artwork for IDW’s MY LITTLE PONY and DARK HORSE’s Jungle Tales of Tarzan. A professional illustrator for over a decade, she has made a name for herself creating art for world class clients like Nickelodeon, Jim Henson Legacy, Sesame Street, Dark Horse comics, IDW Comics, and Warner Bros.

Diana earned her “Tarzan Yell” as the illustrator for the comic adaption of Edgar Rice Burroughs "The Cave Girl" and is the colorist for the latest incarnation of "Carson of Venus".

Her artwork is featured in Dark Horse’s graphic novel "The Halloween Legion", the critically acclaimed and Stan Lee Excelsior nominated all-ages adventure, of which she is co-creator. She is an active participant and presenter at Kids Comic Con and Adobe MAX, promoting literacy, education, and by example, gender equality in the professional arts.

East Side Mags - along with Montclair Center - are celebrating women and everything they do that makes this world amazing!  Montclair Center has a whole week of fantastic and empowering events taking place.  You can check out all the great events here.

East Side Mags is no different.  In fact, we aim to show you how impactful women are in the comics community!  And to prove that, we are bringing in some of the most amazing women we could find (and know personally):

Meet Amy Chu.  Amy is an amazing writer and has skyrocketed to new heights in the comics industry!  She's most recently known for her work on Poison Ivy: The Cycle of Life & Death (the first ever solo Poison Ivy comic series) and her work on KISS comics out through Dynamite Entertainment.  She's also worked on titles for publishers like DC Comics, Marvel, IDW, Valiant and Dynamite.  Not only that, but she's the co-founder of Alpha Girl Comics!

Meet Michelle Delecki.  Michelle paints and draws beautifully!  Her work is gorgeous and her attention to detail is unparalleled.  She's a painter, illustrator and a guitarist.  She loves 80s metal, violent 80s and 90s action movies with car chases and explosions and loves to laugh!  She most recently worked on an indie title called Axcend which was about video games intersecting and affecting the real world!  An amazing tale and you can check out her beautiful work here!

Meet Brigid Allanson.  Brigid is a graduate of the Kubert School in Dover, NJ and a seriously talented artist!  She works as a freelance artist and graphic designer AND teaches East Side Mags' own Learn to Draw Comics Class on Saturday mornings! Brigid's work includes YIIK - an indie video game - as well as a Kickstarter for an upcoming video game slated to be available on PC, PS4, PSVita and Unity called Hush-Hush 229.  She's brought her talent to conventions all over including but not limited to Garden State Comic Fest, NYC Special Edition and more!  You can check out her work here.

The event will take place from 1pm-4pm on Sunday, April 9th.  The perfect end to a week of empowering women and a bright future for women everywhere!
